Nanortalik Greenland |
*All Admission Fees are Included*
We begin with our Captain giving us a guided iceberg boat tour around Nanortalik where we will have the opportunity to see icebergs and wildlife! The countless different shapes and forms of icebergs can be found throughout Greenland’s waters all year round. Nanortalik, once Nennortalik, means place of polar bears. Keep your eyes open. (We will be provided with wet suits jackets and pants for boat portion. Sizes S M L XL XXL))
Every year when the drift ice comes down to the southwest coast, with them comes the animals too. The ice and those animals were very important for the Inuits
survival. Be sure to watch for whales and seals on this tour, you will likely see a few. There are usually plenty of whales (especially Minke whales) close to Nanortalik. The captain and the guide will be on a look out as well.
Not only will we enjoy viewing the icebergs , we will also get to touch one as soon as the local and the skilled captain finds an iceberg that is safe to get very close to. We will algo get to drink a beverage made with thousands of years old ice from the berg. Here in Newfoundland (my province) we make beer and vokda from icebergs.
