For those who have not visited beautiful Santorini. This tour allows us to avoid the hustle and stress of using the Cable Car with wait lines of often hours to get back to the ship. (and we save the approx 20$ per person cost for the cable car.) Last year there were several people from the ship who got ill, fainted, stressed over making the return due to the crowds lined up for the return cable car to tender area.
We will be tendered to the old port which is far below Fira and Oia. The usual options to get to the top are walk 580 steps , approximately 45 minutes, take a donkey which is somewhat controversial and has a cost or take the cable car which also has a cost. (donkey are cable car are approx 10 USD one way per person)
To make our visit more relaxing and avoiding those crowds, upon arrival at the port of Fira (after getting off our tender from the ship),we will walk some 100 feet and board our own private boat. We will sail along the beautiful coast of Santorini for approximately half hour admiring the amazing views of the beautiful cliffs from below. We will then be dropped to the new port. Crowds avoided.
It is here we will meet our guide and private coach to begin a scenic journey to Oia, enabling us to admire the panoramic view of the Aegean Sea and the neighbouring islands along the way. Oia enjoys a hilltop location which offers breath-taking views across the Gulf of Santorini. This beautiful village, with its narrow streets, traditional white churches and blue domes, is the perfect place to do a little souvenir shopping and enjoy the surroundings. The total time spent in Oia will be approximately one hour and 30 minutes.
The tour will then take us to one of Santorini's most famous wineries. Viniculture is an ancient art in Santorini, thanks to the volcanic soil. We will then have a tour of the winery located on a hilltop with glorious views. We will receive an explanation of how the wine is produced, before sampling 4 different wines, 2 red and 2 white, in a nice relaxed atmosphere while admiring the glorious views. There will also be snacks of olives, cheeses, and crackers, as well as water.(included in tour price)
We will stay at the winery for approximately an hour. Wine can be purchased from the shop on site. PLEASE NOTE: You must be over the age of 18 to participate in the wine-tasting.
We will then board our coach and head to Fira, the capital of Santorini. Fira’s clifftop location offers views of Nea Kameni, a still-active volcanic island to the west. In Fira, we will have free time to shop for souvenirs, explore the narrow streets, or enjoy a coffee and delicious pastry (optional)
We are then dropped off at our pick up point for our private boat, to sail the beautiful waters back to the tender area to return to our shi, in plenty of time for your cruise ships departure. PHOTOS FROM OUR TOURS IN 2022. ( if you see yourself in a pic and wish to have it removed please advise)
